Assignemnt breif of types of research

In this essay I will be talking about the advantages and disadvantages of research in the media industry.

Types of research
An example of types of research is the ‘NRS” the ‘NRS’ dedicates itself in producing information for magazines and other genres within the industry, a example of this is who last read the publication, like who read this yesterday, how much was the publication read in the last 7 days, last month and last 3 months examples like that.
A way they do extra sorts of research is by counting the number of copies sold then the estimation of the amount of secondary readers the magazine has, a short example of secondary readers is people who live in the same household/workplace as the primary user who had bought it, they label these sort of studies as demographic classification as they use numerous methods.

The NRS’ highest readership comes from the Daily mail which has over 23+ million reader online and in print a month, the NRS uses its survey average the amount of reader per month, which they then add up to a yearly total.

The main form of information they provide is by basing their classifications on the head of household, for example they equate that 2% of the UK population is in the social class of ‘upper class’ which we would class as primary and quantitative as they are using numerical tables and charts to get first hand information on what the social grade of print/online news company’s gain in readership which they directly feed to them agencies.

SWOT

A way I’m going to get my advert across to people is by making it flamboyant and enthusiastic, a reason for this is because it’s an attention seeking technique, it manages to capture the audiences eyes for example, if their not looking at the TV but can hear the audio then there’s the chance it will catch the attention needed.

Strength of selling shower gel
A good strength of selling shower gel is that it is a forever needing product, the product gives users a fragrance as it help defend off odour throughout the day, I want the product to have a sweet smelling sense as it relates to being clean.

Weakness of selling shower gel
A weakness of selling shower gel can be price, the price of shower gel is costly compared to the price of soaps and other bathroom fragrances, for a verified shower gel you are looking at a costly £3+, the name of a product adds more money on it if its known.

Threats of selling shower gel
A threat of can be allergic reactions to the product, which can be anything from rashes to blisters on the skin, severe dandruff can also be one too.

Opportunities of selling shower gel
An opportunity of selling shower gel can be the price tag and the logo, these both is what attracts a customer to buy your shower gel, the logo is a big deal cause it the imagery it uses to attract the potential customer, and for the price if it is reasonable then it’ll gain that customers attention.

Strength of selling watches
A strength of selling a watch is that they are yet again a needed accessory, they can tell the time and also look trendy, this can be seen a persuasive technique for younger people as it’s always nice to show off a new accessory.

Weakness of selling watches
A weakness of selling a watch is that they need to be powered and are easily wearable if they have a soft material on the watches strap, also scratches from permanent use can occur.

Threats of selling watches
A threat of selling a watch can be trying to place the logo under watch on Photoshop, or trying to model the watch on a actor.

Opportunities of selling watches
A opportunity of selling a watch can be how you present it on a model during the advert, if it looks classy and trendy then it’ll be a persuasive point for potential customers, also if it stands out this can also be a persuasion point in buying.

Strength of selling a suit
Suits are a partially used product as they are for occasions like funerals and weddings for example, they are extremely smart and show a use of elegance when wearing them, the strength of it is the look good factor.

Weakness of selling a suit
Weakness of a suit is that it can easily tear if you put yourself in unfamiliar positions, also getting stains on them can be a issue if it’s a liquid or piece of food with strange consistency.

Threat of selling a suit
A threat of selling a watch can be the way you model the suit,

Advert Idea's

Joe Heart Head & Shoulders Advert

This advert uses alot of close up shots of the actors face within the advert, also adding some blurred scenes along with the close ups in the advert it shows alot of following shots aswell. In the ad they seem to add facts inside like 'flake 100% free' trying to persuade the user that this is the number one product on the market, another advertising point in this is the actor himself, they have used someone who is high profile in the UK public to be the poster boy for their adverts, wich in some cases can be a persuasion technique.

The genre of this advert is real becasue it's going into a real life scenes wich is a football field, the shampoo was supposed to bring a feel good effect to the user as sort of layed out in the advertisment trailer.

 Rolex Advert
In this advert it shows the rolex watch up in the clouds, this gives us as the veiwer that it is a very high class watch as it gives the dentotation of the watch being for the wealthy, within the advert it gives a similar dentoation but with different scenery, they add these denoatations as a talking point for people who are above others wealthily.

In the advert it shows very detailed close ups of the watch, showing the gears moving and how delicate it looks, this can be a denotation for how unique it is and how it gives a sense of clean it is.
The genre of this watch is not real as it is animated, it just gives clear denotations of how high class it is and how it gives the sense wealthyness to it.
It seems to use alot of closeups and various angles as it shows the detail and craftery of the watch, this can also be seen as a persuasion technique.

Gucci Tailoring
In this advert it shows the pure elegance and purity of gucci suits, it shows us as the viewer thats its very high class and unique as theres only one real maker of gucci suits, it gives us a story of how to look smart and how wearing gucci attire is the highest of the high as it gives off a classy look, this is used as the adverts major persuasion technique as it shows a young model in a suit looking unique as people around him are just 'casual' and he's standing out as he looks different.

Within the advert it shows close ups of him getting changed and having his shoes polished, this can be referable to the rolex advert as both just seem to show off elegance and luxiory of wearing luxurious attire and accesories.

The genre of this advert would come under realism as it shows us him casually walking round in real life in his suit, for user referance i would say it gives a feel good sense as it's luxury clothing.
